What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese Medicine, where sterilized fine needles are inserted in the skin. They are used to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. This then stimulates the nervous system, increasing blood flow and triggers the release of endorphins.
Acupuncture treats the body and not the illness. It can help treat acute pain, chronic illness, fertility, autoimmune disorders, women’s health, PMS, PMDD, irregular periods, digestive issues, as well as offering support during cancer treatment.
I blend Traditional Chinese Medicine with Japanese style Acupuncture, creating a space where your chronic illnesses can be unraveled in a compassionate way, addressing both the emotional, physical and mental components. Chronic illnesses are typically with someone for many years, and the process of healing looks different for every patient. We often need time and patience to rediscover who we are beyond this pain and the narrative that comes with it. Chinese Medicine can help in this process of discovery.
I also focus on helping women move through the various transitions in life, such as puberty, childbirth, menopause, as well as grief and self care, hoping to build a community which fosters growth, curiosity and a capacity to face life’s challenges.
Using Acupuncture, Moxa and Cupping, I try to untangle the pieces so that you leave the treatment space feeling empowered in your body and heart, moving towards an embodied sense of your center.
